Life Update

This is a post to just give a general life update because I feel like writing this morning.

This week one of the highlights or lowlights is that I was involved in a car accident in a local high school parking lot. I had pulled into the parking lot to pick up Yena from swimming practice and was minding my own business driving in the through lane to park. Well, the person that pulled into the parking lot in front of me got into the right lane (the pickup, drop off lane) and had stopped behind some cars. Well, as I was besides this person, they decided that it was a good time to pull into my lane because they decided to park. Well, I couldn't stop in time even though I was probably going only five to ten miles per hour and we collided resulting in some significant damage. They broke my passenger side headlight, the bumper is cracked/broken, and the paneling above the tire is also damaged. Their driver's side door suffered some damage as well from the impact. Called the police, they came out, and now I am just waiting for the other person's insurance to get their act together so hopefully my car can be fixed soon because this was not my fault. It was quite annoying and right after the collision, let's just say I had to take a second to take a deep breath and calm myself down before I got out of the car and met the other person, and of course they didn't want to call the police. This person has accepted responsibility and liability for the accident though, so at least that's settled. And of course, the one positive out of this is that no one was hurt or injured.

Moving on, have I mentioned on here that I am helping to coach my middle school's track team (well the distance runners this year)? Well, I am and it has been somewhat fun and enjoyable except when the weather is terrible and it's cold. I like to run with the kids during practice, push them, and encourage them. It also helps that I can still keep up with most of them and even faster than most at this point. I initially signed up as just a volunteer but the head coach advocated I guess for me and maybe some of the others to get a partial stipend for helping, so just an extra bonus! Our first track meet is coming up this Tuesday and that should be exciting. Yena is probably doing the 4X400, 800 and 1600 meters (which sounds like a lot to me), but she's confident. She has the 7th grade school record for the 800 meter run and is hoping to break the 8th grade school record this year and make it to the state meet. Let's go!

Spring has basically sprung as you have seen in my previous pictures with the daffodills and flowers. I have heard people say that we are at least two weeks early as far as the growing season is concerned this year. I have lettuce, tatsoi, and Chinese broccoli seedlings growing outside already and hopefully they do well! Inside I have ground cherry and tomato seedlings growing and they won't go in the ground until sometime next month. I should have a pretty good amount of ground cherries this year, but I am worried that I won't have as many tomato plants as usual, but that is okay. This week I am going to plant at least one or two rows of potatoes as I have about twenty potato slips (two varieties) to plant. Later, I hope to plant some edamame beans in between as I have done some research and found out that they are good companion plants. I am also trying to grow some onions this year as well. And I want to grow some cucumbers this year too. So all in all, hopefully if I can't get as many tomatoes this year, then the other crops will make up for that a bit.

I still haven't finished reading American Dirt yet, but have every intention to. Still watching White Collar and since it has gone to Netflix, I don't have to deal with the ads, so that's nice. I have started season 3 and just when I thought something was settled or resolved, I am confused again. Obviously this is how they kept it interesting and people watching it for six seasons!

There is a lot more that I could write about, but will stop my general update here. If you are reading this or have been reading this blog, feel free to sign up as an official follower, so you can be one of the first to know about any updates.

As always, take care of yourself!
