Becoming TikTok Famous, well Not Yet

Joining TIkTok

First, since my last post focused on 2026 and my goals for this year, I have decided to join TikTok. TikTok is a whole new universe for me as an elder millennial that I am not quite used to yet. I have been on almost two weeks now and have been posting every day - sometimes, multiple times a day, and trying to stay laser focused on myself as an author. I can tell you as of right now, I have almost 40 followers, which I think is about average. I am going to keep at it and give myself at least three months of consistently posting every day to see if anything comes from this. In some ways, I am enjoying it since it is new for me, but as you can see by the image created by ChatGPT, it is a process and can quickly feel like another job. ChatGPT, AI, other TikTokers, and the Internet will all give you advice and tell you exactly what you need to do to become TikTok famous. For the first four or five days, I was even having ChatGPT help me generate my scripts, but then felt like I was cheating and that was not authentic enough, so I have stopped using AI at least to develop my posts. Like I already stated, this is a new adventure and so far I cannot really complain one way or the other and if it gets my name out there as an author then that is an extra bonus!

I am still trying to develop and use the Facebook professional page, but so far I have 51 followers and 99% are people that I am already friends with from my personal account. I am also on Bluesky, but don't interact on it as much as I probably should. I post a lot about my novels there too, and have gotten some good interactions from this as well. It is hard to know what to do and if I am doing things right on social media, but hoping at least one person's interest has been piqued enough to want to buy my novel because it only takes one person!

Finally, I have put on TikTok two videos in which I have read my prose/poetry about smells (some of which I have put on here) and people have seemed to enjoy them and reacted positively. I am thinking about typing those up in a small ebook, self-publishing it, and making it free to possibly help promote myself and my writing.
