A sigh of relief.

First, I would like to thank President Biden for making the right choice and suspending his campaign for relection and endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris. I would say that President Biden has done a lot including the Inflation Reduction Act that is the first major law that addresses climate change. I think he should finish his term as strong as possible, campaign for Kamala Harris and other Democrats, and appear thankful and appreciative.
Kamala Harris is not pefect and I do not think a perfect candidate exists, but feel like I can breathe just a tad bit easier now believing that democracy might be salvaged. I am not panicking as much in thinking about what we will do when I lose my job, need to get serious about gardening/farming to grow our own food, who are "real" neighbors are, who we can trust, etc., and those still might be issues to worry about if down the road it looks like Kamala Harris isn't generating the excitement that is needed to beat Trump.
However, Kamala Harris is fifty-nine years old now and will be sixty soon, which is still below the retirement age and looks to be in good health mentally and physically. This is a big benefit and will contrast nicely with Trump who is only slightly younger than Biden and mentally unstable. She would be the first woman and African-American and Asian-American woman to be the president! Unfortunately, I think we are going to see how sexist and racist Trump and his party are through this campaign now. I think she should excite the base more, and with young people, women, and people in swing states who might have been on the fence or leaning towards Trump simply because they didn't think Biden was fit for office.
Finally, I am not sure how many of you have read much about Project 2025, but I have gone on the website. It is easily accessible if you type in [Project 2025] on Google and it pops up. Then I would recommend at the top going to [Policy] and then clicking on [Forward: A Promise to America by Kevin D. Roberts, PhD] that outlines the four pillars of Project 2025. They are as follows: 1. Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children. 2. Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people. 3. Defend our nation's sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats. 4. Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely-what our Constitution calls "the Blessings of Liberty." They might sound good and I admit there are like one or two ideas that I buy into, but for the most part it is very scary!
I agree that family is important, but Project 2025's claim is that those on the extreme left have made the government mean family. Family should be defined only as a husband, wife, and children. It starts out with good ideas and then goes on to say that any terms about diversity, gender, sexual-orientation, gender-orientation should be deleted and banned. And apparently terms or education about reproduction health and rights should also be deleted in order to protect American's first amendment rights. I ask you to think about that one for a minute because it is leaving my head spinning.
It goes on to discuss how those on the left that are pushing environmental regulation and laws is a way for liberals to grab absolute power. It talks a lot about how the US should "drill baby, drill!" like Trump has stated because that is how we can grow our economy and make us not dependent on any other country for our energy. They basically tie extreme environmentalism to being anti-human. They attack public schools and universities for being too liberal and teaching woke agendas. "Schools serve parents and not the other way around," which is a statement that in itself that should require significant pause and thought.
The bottom line is that Project 2025's agenda is scary. Trump has tried to distance himself from it, but basically unless you are white, conservative, cisgender, middle to upper-class, and a fake Christian then this should terrify you!
Finally, with this all being said to my readers and friends who are influential and famous, I think we need a lot of you to speak out against Donald Trump and Project 2025 and for the Democrat nominee, more than likely Vice President Harris. I would like to see people be very authentic and look into a camera and be like "Hi, my name is . . . and as a professor, someone of the LGBTQ community, a person who cares for the enviornment, a son/daughter of immigrants, etc. this is what life would look like for me if Trump is to be elected and Project's 2025 agenda would play out. This is why I support Kamala Harris because she will be a president for all people and those that don't vote against her won't have to worry about the military or police coming after them like I will if Trump is elected." Maybe this would be overly dramatic, but I think we need these type in your face campaigns.
Thanks for reading this blog and take care of yourselves and those that you love!
